Bob Landers, MBA

CFO Emeritus

Bob Landers has been the financial heart of Heil & Heil Insurance Agency since 1982. A graduate of Indiana University with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a deep background in business accounting, Bob transitioned from the agency’s Comptroller to its President and Owner, serving as the steady hand that guided the firm through its most transformative eras.

The defining chapter of Bob’s career began in 2007. Following the passing of Jim Flanagan, who had spent years transforming a small North Shore firm into a premier technical brokerage, the agency faced an uncertain future. While the industry began a trend of aggressive corporate consolidation, Bob saw a higher calling: protecting the people and the culture that defined Heil & Heil. To ensure the agency remained independent and to safeguard the careers of his colleagues, Bob took the personal and professional risk of acquiring the firm himself.

Bob’s disciplined financial stewardship became the agency’s greatest asset during the Great Recession of 2008. He prioritized "people over profit," ensuring the firm remained a resilient home for its employees during a period of global economic volatility. His leadership wasn't just about spreadsheets; it was about honoring a legacy of independence and ensuring the agency remained a "human-first" organization.

Having successfully transitioned the ownership and primary licensure of the agency to the next generation, Bob now serves in a senior advisory capacity. While he provides the financial wisdom and historical perspective that anchor the agency’s mission, he is also embracing a well-earned next chapter of life. An avid traveler, Bob is on a mission to see the world, three times over, exploring new cultures and destinations. When he isn't globetrotting, his greatest joy is found at home, spending time with his three grandchildren.
