Most people are not aware of the fact that if they let their auto policy lapse for more than 30 days their next premium will be significantly higher. That's because companies look for proof of prior insurance. And that proof needs to be within 30 days. Did you also know that a new car purchase is only automatically covered on your policy for a maximum of 10 days of the purchase. Additionally, If the current car on the policy only has Liability on it, the new car will only be covered for that too. You have to call your agent and get the car covered for full coverage.
